Massage therapy is an age-old remedy and health practice dating back more than
3,000 years. Used by the Chinese, Hindus, Egyptians, Persians, and ancient Greeks,
the therapeutic benefits of various types of massage have been documented for centuries.
Massage has been found to enhance general health and well-being. Therapeutic
massage and bodywork has many applications and variations. Because it is used
for health promotion as well as for its curative aspect, it can truthfully be
said 'if you have a body, you can benefit from therapeutic massage'. We currently
offer the following massage services.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the
chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger or forearm
pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles,
tendons and fascia. Deep Tissue Massage is used to release chronic muscle tension and helps break
up and realign scar tissue. This massage may incorporate the use of various massage tools. Deep
Tissue Massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or
following the massage. You should feel better within a day or two, however. Not recommended for a first massage.

Therapeutic/Medical/Orthopedic Massage
Therapeutic, Medical, and Orthopedic Massage are virtually the same type of bodywork.
They incorporate aspects of other modalities to correct imbalances, usually due to trauma
or chronic conditions. They may borrow from such modalities as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial,
and Sports Massage.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage enhances body awareness, identifies problem areas before they develop into
injuries, removes trigger points formed by injury or overuse, relaxes and stretches muscles,
improves range of motion, restores suppleness and elasticity, relieves pain and stress, frees
muscle adhesions and softens scar tissue caused by injury or overuse, improves circulation and
flushes toxins that cause muscle stiffness and soreness, relaxes body and mind, speeds recovery
and healing from exertion. Sports Massage enhances athletic performance.

CORE Myofascial Massage

CORE Myofascial Therapy is a full-body treatment that promotes structural alignment, functional
performance, flexibility, and body awareness. The main technique for this work involves slow, deep,
myofascial spreading, with some joint mobilization and stretching. CORE Myofascial Therapy is not a
passive massage. You wear shorts- along with a tube top for women-and periodically perform small
movements at specific joints to mobilize muscle fibers and, thus, enhance treatment effects. CORE
Myofascial Therapy requires a minimum of one and a half hours to complete work on the entire body.
The focus of this work is general; therefore, specific work can be addressed in a different session.
Some people find, however, that full-body balancing helps to remediate chronic issues.

Raindrop Massage
Raindrop Technique® combines the art of aromatherapy with the techniques of Vita Flex and massage
in the application of essential oils to various areas of the body, usually the feet and back. It
may be combined with reflexology. This application provides a revolutionary means of bringing balance
and harmony to the body - physically, mentally, and emotionally. The oils are first applied to the
soles of both feet using the Vita Flex technique. Next they are dropped from a height of about six
inches above the back, which is where Raindrop Technique gets its name. They are then massaged along
the spine and back muscles using a series of light, feathering strokes along with deeper work.
The traditional oils used are Valor®, Thyme, Basil, Peppermint, Oregano, Wintergreen, Cypress,
Marjoram, and Aroma Seiz™. A custom collection may be individually designed upon request.

Scar Treatment
Scar tissue may be due to trauma, repetitive motion, or surgery. This tissue is not as soft and
pliable as the original tissue or muscle fibers. Because it pulls on the surrounding tissue, it
can be the source of discomfort and pain with movement and, in some extreme cases, further injury.
Scar tissue can be easily reduced or diminished with massage therapy in addition to regular physical
activity, especially in the first 8-10 weeks. ETPS therapy
is an effective scar reduction therapy, even for mature scars. ETPS repolarizes the tissue to allow
the fibers to realign, the scar to flatten, and to decrease discoloration. The combination of manual
massage and ETPS is very powerful in reducing the appearance of scars as well as drastically reducing
discomfort associated with the scar. Three to ten treatments (30 minutes each) are recommended for
preeminent results.
First Treatment: $80
Follow-up Treatment: $30
Reflexology
The idea behind Reflexology is not new. In fact, it was practiced as early as 2330 B.C. by the
Egyptian culture. Reflexology as we know it today was first researched and developed by Eunice
Ingham, the pioneer of this field. Reflexology is a science based on a system of zones and reflex
areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs, and other parts of the body.
Reflexology is the proper method of using the thumb and fingers on these reflexes in order to create a
physical change in another part of the body. Stimulating these reflexes correctly can help many health
problems in a natural way. Thus, by working on the feet, there is an effect on another part of the body.
The goals of reflexology are to re-educate, re-pattern, and re-condition the nerves through the
neural-electrical system of the body. This is a safe, effective and reliable process that allows the
body to self-correct. By working on the feet, there is a corresponding effect on all twelve systems of
the body: cardiovascular, nervous, digestive, endocrine, immune, lymphatic, muscular, reproductive,
respiratory, sensory, skeletal, and urinary. By using this specific, highly specialized relaxation
technique (reflexology), the body is gently persuaded to correct, strengthen, and reinforce itself.

Tibetan Healing Bowl Sound Massage
Sound has a deep effect on the emotions and psyche. Sound Massage with
Healing/Singing Bowls has been used since ancient times in India, and especially
in the Himalayas, for healing. The handmade bowls contain twelve metals. Singing
Bowls are classic instruments and meditation tools in Tibet. Tibetan Singing Bowls
are also known as Himalayan Singing Bowls. Singing Bowls are used for meditation,
sound therapy, healing, sound massage, and as tools for holistic healing, calming
the nervous system, and stimulating brain function. By rubbing Singing Bowls with a
wooden or leather wrapped singing bowl striker, the rim of the singing bowl vibrates
to produce a calming sound (or hum).
Sound therapy with the Singing Bowls has evoked a remarkable and swift improvement
in many cases with physical or mental and emotional pain. Pains seem to melt away,
and one feels that emotional heaviness like worry or depression is lifted, leaving
one to feel a pleasant lightness. The energy body, the aura, is cleared and one feels
refreshed and as if a burden is taken off one's shoulders.
The sound massage affects each cell of the body. When sounding the singing bowls on
or near the body, the vibration of the sound reaches each cell via the water in the
body. The healing sound vibration will gently flow into the body, affecting the structure
and health of cells and organs favorably. Disease is a disharmony of the vibration of
the cells, tissues, organs, and the sound massage has an immediate beneficial effect
by bringing the vibrating cells back into their harmonious state. The massage renews
the body and mind from the effects of daily stress and disturbed inner balance. Mental
blocks can be loosened by a singing bowl massage.
Some of the benefits of Healing Bowl Sound Massage are:
- Stress reduction through deep relaxation and endorphin release
- Liberation of emotional traumas locked within the subconscious
- Profound effect on acupuncture meridians
- Activation of self-healing mechanisms within the body
- Promotion of deeper sleep
- Relief from headache, fatigue, insomnia, digestive disorders, joint or muscle aches, menstrual disorders, emotional imbalances
- Chakra balancing
Everyone, including children, expectant mothers, and the elderly can enjoy the positive
vibrations for body, mind, and soul created by the gentle massage of Tibetan Singing Bowls.
A sound massage session usually takes about one and a half hours. The treatments are
tailor-made. Some may enjoy occasional treatments while others may want to have several
consecutive treatments to help shift more blockages. For the ultimate relaxation experience,
add a half hour of massage after your sound therapy.
